Please join us in creating a better future.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Lettuce Work. We rely on dozens of volunteers annually to help Lettuce Work continue to deliver on its mission of helping young adults with autism.
Our volunteers help with special event preparation, building construction and maintenance, making phone calls, planting and plant maintenance, and so much more. We would love for you to join our team!

Volunteer Opportunities
Group Volunteer Opportunities
We generally work with groups of 5-10 people, but depending on the project, we may be able to split larger groups into small working groups.
Most groups volunteer for a half-day, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Most volunteers work a half-day, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
All volunteers must pass a criminal background check before volunteering, apart from some one-time, special event volunteer opportunities.
Winter
Planting our spring crops is in full swing during January, February, and March. We can always use help planting as many as 50,000 plants during this timeframe!
In addition to planting, we need help with plant maintenance, such as pruning during this time, installing hangers on pots and hanging baskets, and preparing and stocking our retail area.
Spring
We need help preparing our retail area in early spring, including stocking shelves and moving plant materials outside. All of this requires lots of hands and smiling faces!
Attention, Master Gardeners! We love to have volunteers with plant expertise join us in the retail store on weekends once the store is open to help answer customers’ questions. Answering technical questions and assisting with plant selection is extremely helpful to us!
Assistance with planting and plant maintenance, such as pruning, may also still be needed at this time.
Fall
Preparation for our Annual Wreath Decorating/Fundraising Event. We need individuals to help us with bow-making for the event! We can also use assistance with decorating the event space (Christmas trees, lights, staging, etc.).
Volunteering at the Annual Wreath Decorating Events. Do you have a creative flair? Assist our guests with creating their wreath or winter planter at our annual wreath-decorating event! These evening events are held annually in early December from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
